# UpButler

> Agent-first uptime monitoring, status pages and AI incident reports by HootCodes LTD (EU). One API call (POST /api/v1/services {"name","url","statusPage"}) puts a service under monitoring and on a public status page. Everything is available over REST and as 94 MCP tools at https://upbutler.com/mcp.

Key facts:
- Agents can create their own workspace without a human: POST https://upbutler.com/api/v1/agent/bootstrap {"agentName"} returns an API key and a claim URL for a human (unclaimed workspaces are deleted after 7 days).
- Auth: "Authorization: Bearer ub_live_...". Errors: {"error":{"code","message","hint?","details?"}}. POST accepts an Idempotency-Key header.
- Monitor kinds: http (status/keyword/JSON/header/latency/TLS assertions), tcp, dns, heartbeat (jobs ping https://upbutler.com/hb/<token>, or /hb/<token>/fail), manifest (one JSON endpoint reports many components; reads Statuspage.io components.json), script (Pro, Business), browser (Business).
- A monitor goes down only after consecutive failed checks (default 2, re-check after 15s). Failures on the same status page within 30 minutes are grouped into one incident.
- AI incident reports: analysis, likely causes, suggested actions and a customer-safe public summary when an incident opens; a post-incident summary on recovery; "polish" rewrites human or agent notes.
- Status pages: live at https://<slug>.upbutler.com on every plan; themes, fonts, custom CSS (Pro, Business), branding removal (from Starter) and custom domains (from Starter; rolling out, CNAME to pages.upbutler.com), component groups, 90-day uptime bars, subscribers via email, webhook, Slack, Discord and RSS.
- Alerts: email, Slack, Discord, Telegram and webhooks signed per Standard Webhooks (webhook-id, webhook-timestamp, webhook-signature). Webhooks are unmetered.
- Multi-region checks: monitors can run from several EU regions (Helsinki, Nuremberg, Falkenstein, Lauterbourg); a strict majority of reporting regions must fail before a monitor counts as down. Regions per monitor: 1 on Free, 2 on Starter, 3 on Pro, all on Business.
- Deploy markers: POST /api/v1/deploys {"version"} (or the upbutler/action GitHub Action); AI incident analysis mentions deploys that landed just before failures.
- AI insights: blameless postmortem drafts, incident templates and a weekly digest every Monday.
- Security: Google/GitHub sign-in, TOTP two-factor (can be required per workspace), session management and an audit log (recorded on every plan; the last 7 days visible, 400 days on Business).
- On-call (Business plan): weekly rotations with overrides and escalation policies that page the on-call member by email or Telegram, or any alert channel, until acknowledged. Every plan can acknowledge incidents. No SMS or phone calls.
- Event stream: GET /api/v1/events?after=<last id> for agents without a public endpoint, or GET /api/v1/stream for live Server-Sent Events (same auth; ?types=monitor.*; resume with Last-Event-ID or ?after=; ?checks=1 adds live check.completed frames; reconnect when the server closes after ~10 min).

- Over a limit: 402 plan_limit with details.upgrade {plan, name} naming the cheapest plan that allows it; POST /api/v1/billing/checkout {"plan":"starter"|"pro"|"business","interval":"month"|"year"} returns a checkoutUrl for a human. Downgrades and trial ends pause, hide or slow things and never delete monitors, pages, components, subscribers or history (custom CSS is cleared on plans without it).
